Former two-division UFC champion Alex Pereira confessed that no one hacked his social media account when he threatened to leave the promotion.
In May this year Pereira criticized UFC management and said he was ready to end his career after rumors surfaced that the light heavyweight title fight with Magomed Ankalaev might go to Jiří Procházka. A few hours later Pereira deleted his post, claiming he had not written anything and had been the victim of hackers who broke into his social networks.
A little bit was miscommunication, because Alex found out through social media and stuff like that. So he was upset, that’s why he sent the [tweet], but he regretted it. He was wrong because he didn’t know talks that were going on, things that were going on. So it was kind of a miscommunication between camp, manager and the UFC.
Recall that on October 5 at UFC 320 in Las Vegas Pereira and Ankalaev will have a rematch. Their first meeting, held in March 2025 at UFC 313, ended with the Russian winning by unanimous decision. Ankalaev’s record stands at 20 wins, one loss and one draw; one fight was ruled no contest. Pereira has 12 wins and three losses.
