Pereira Hoped For a Strike And It Worked: Guskov

UFC light heavyweight Bogdan Guskov commented exclusively to Telecomasia.net on Alex Pereira’s victory over Magomed Ankalaev at UFC 320.

Pereira knew he had to win and land shots early. Every striker knows that power fades as the fight goes on – the dynamite burns out. Knockouts rarely happen in the later rounds. At the start of the fight, you’re fully charged. Pereira was hoping for that strike. And it landed. Magomed’s team probably expected a left-hand strike, but Alex hit with the right. A lot of hard work has been done.

On October 5 at UFC 320, Alex Pereira defeated Magomed Ankalaev by first-round technical knockout to become the UFC light heavyweight champion. Their first fight ended with Ankalaev winning by unanimous decision.
