Former UFC bantamweight champion Petr Yan from Russia stated that he deserves a title fight and therefore has no intention of fighting anyone except for the champion.
Petr Yan, according to a statement from the Archangel Mikhail gym
At this moment, I do not plan to fight anyone else. Looking at our roster, I don't think there is anyone more deserving of being next in line for a title shot than me. I have three victories over worthy opponents, including Song Yadong, who was on a winning streak, and Deiveson Figueiredo. Now they gave me Marcus McGhee. I was basically ready to fight anyone; it was the UFC's choice.
It’s important to remember that bantamweight champion Merab Dvalishvili will defend his title against Cory Sandhagen on October 5 in Las Vegas at UFC 320.
Yan last fought in the octagon in July 2025 at UFC on ABC 9, where he defeated Marcus McGhee by unanimous decision. His record stands at 19 wins and five losses.
