In an exclusive interview with Telecomasia.net, Ural FC General Director Kirill Sidelnikov commented on the announcement of the matchup between Vyacheslav Vasilevsky and Sharaf Davlatmuradov at the league tournament scheduled for August 16.
Vladislav Kovalev wanted to fight at our event and in the RCC against Alexander Shlemenko. I perfectly understand all the difficulties. RCC did not give 'Belaz' the green light for a meeting with Vasilevsky. If I were in their position, I'd make the same decision. There was too little time between the fights. We considered a significant number of other candidates, including Kazakhstani and foreign fighters, and then remembered Sharaf, who is a good and worthy contender.
"Both fights are interesting from a sporting perspective: Vasilevsky vs. Kovalev and Vasilevsky vs. Davlatmuradov. In terms of publicity, the match between Vyacheslav and Vladislav would have been more media-friendly. 'Belaz' has gained some popularity, and there are results from their first meeting. However, I really like Sharaf as a fighter, and his matchup with Vasilevsky will be equally attractive," Sidelnikov said.
Remember, on August 16 in Perm, the Ural FC 10 tournament will feature 37-year-old Vyacheslav Vasilevsky and 33-year-old Sharaf Davlatmuradov. Vasilevsky has 36 wins and nine losses in MMA, and his last mixed martial arts fight was in 2022. Davlatmuradov has 20 wins, five losses, and one draw.
