Journalist and insider Ariel Helwani explained why New Zealander Kai Kara-France was excluded from the updated UFC flyweight rankings.
According to Helwani, the former title contender notified the UFC management that he intends to take a break for about one year to focus on other aspects of his life. Because of this, he was temporarily removed from the top 15, and he will not return to the rankings until he officially announces his comeback and enters the testing pool.
On June 29, in the co-main event of UFC 317 in Las Vegas, USA, Kai Kara-France lost to Alexandre Pantoja by submission in the third round. Kara-France's record stands at 25 wins, 12 losses, and one no-contest.
