Ruffy Says Pereira Had a Cracked Shin in the First Fight With Ankalaev

Brazilian UFC fighter Mauricio Ruffy revealed that his compatriot Alex Pereira entered his first fight against the Russian Magomed Ankalaev with a serious injury.

Mauricio Ruffy, quoted by Sportskeeda
Now that everything’s over, I can say it. He was fighting with a cracked shin in the first fight. His shin was so injured, he could barely walk. He lost but he still went out there and fought. Then he came out in the rematch and showed his level.

Ankalaev and Pereira first met in the octagon in March this year at UFC 313. At that time, Magomed won by unanimous decision and claimed the UFC light heavyweight title.

The rematch between Pereira and Ankalaev took place on October 5 at UFC 320 in Las Vegas, USA. In this fight, Alex won by technical knockout in the first round and regained the UFC light heavyweight championship belt.

The 38-year-old Pereira’s record stands at 13 wins and 3 losses. The 33-year-old Ankalaev has 20 wins, 2 losses, 1 draw, and 1 no contest on his record.
