Former UFC title challenger in the middleweight and light heavyweight divisions Chael Sonnen spoke about mixed martial artists, saying he has never met more fake tough guys than fighters in MMA.
Chael Sonnen
I have personally never been around a faker group of tough guys than MMA fighters. To watch some of these guys, you get called to work three times a year, and of those three times they get called, they don’t show up. These aren’t real tough guys — these are fake tough guys that want to cut the line at the local strip club, get a tattoo on their shoulder, and tell somebody about the good old days. The best of the best of them is Jon Jones. You can’t get him to show up for work three times a year.
Sonnen last fought in June 2019 at Bellator 222, losing to Lyoto Machida by TKO in the second round. His record stands at 31 wins, 17 losses and one draw.
Jon Jones last fought in November 2024 at UFC 309, defeating Stipe Miocic by TKO in the third round. Jones’s record is 28 wins and one loss, with one fight ruled a no contest.
