
Chael Sonnen, a former UFC title contender in the middleweight and light heavyweight divisions, who substituted for Olympic wrestling champion Gable Steveson at the CJI 2 grappling event, fought valiantly to endure his match against Craig Jones.
Early in the match Sonnen took Jones down to the mat and immediately got caught in a choke, causing him to become unconscious. Sonnen regained consciousness, and both athletes agreed to continue. Chael again took Jones to the ground and applied a leg lock, but the second time he was caught in a buggy choke and passed out again.
After coming to, Sonnen offered to continue the match as a best-of-five, but referee John McCarthy declared the bout over.
