Former UFC lightweight champion and Hall of Famer Khabib Nurmagomedov admitted he genuinely enjoyed his 2018 bout against Conor McGregor.
Khabib Nurmagomedov for Red Corner MMA
One thing is very, very beautiful in this [[MMA] world. When you don’t like somebody, you go inside the cage, you smash him, and they give you money. Outside the cage, if you do this, you go to jail. I was waiting for this moment so long, and finally I could not only fight, I could talk. I used this moment and I enjoyed it, like the way you go to Maldives and enjoy, same thing. It was my vacation.
The fight between Nurmagomedov and McGregor took place in October 2018 at UFC 229 and ended with Khabib winning by submission in the fourth round. After the bout, the Russian fighter leaped out of the Octagon and attacked McGregor’s sparring partner, Dillon Danis.
Khabib Nurmagomedov last competed in October 2020 at UFC 254 against Justin Gaethje. That fight was stopped in the second round, with the Russian winning by technical submission. His professional MMA record stands at 29 wins and no losses.
