The UFC, North America's premier mixed martial arts promotion, has released updated fighter rankings following the UFC 317 event that took place on June 29 in Las Vegas, USA.
In the main event of the tournament, Ilia Topuria became the new lightweight champion by knocking out Charles Oliveira in the first round. This victory led Topuria to the top of the pound-for-pound (P4P) rankings, as he outclassed all fighters across weight classes. Oliveira has now fallen to the 15th position.
Previously, Russia's Islam Makhachev held the top P4P spot but has since moved to the welterweight division to compete for the title against Jack Della Maddalena. He now occupies the second place in the P4P rankings.
Georgian fighter Merab Dvalishvili, who holds the bantamweight title, has dropped to third in the rankings.
