UFC fighter Andrey Pulyaev, in an exclusive interview with Telecomasia.net, answered whether Khamzat Chimaev can be called a Russian fighter.

Honestly, it’s hard to consider Khamzat a representative of Russia. He hasn’t raised the country’s flag. So, I don’t think he should be considered a Russian fighter.
In August 2025 at UFC319, Khamzat Chimaev defeated Dricus Du Plessis by unanimous decision to become the new UFC middleweight champion. In January 2025, Chimaev announced he had obtained the UAE citizenship and now competes under the flag of that Middle Eastern country. Chimaev’s record stands at 15 wins and no losses.
