UFC heavyweight Alvin Hines has been suspended for one year after several positive doping tests both in and out of competition.
In a joint statement, the UFC and the anti-doping agency CSAD said Hines tested positive for the anabolic steroid drostanolone and its metabolites, as well as tamoxifen – a breast cancer medication that is also used to slow or block estrogen production.
Those substances were found in a sample taken in June, and tests in July returned the same results.
Hines says he used the banned substances before joining the UFC. He could have avoided such a long penalty if he had disclosed that use before his debut in the promotion.
Hines made his UFC debut in June 2025 at the numbered event UFC 317, losing to Jhonata Diniz by unanimous decision. His record stands at seven wins and one loss.
