UFC President Dana White announced that the organization is considering holding a tournament in Georgia. According to White, the promotion has already held preliminary negotiations with representatives of the Georgian government.
In an interview with TNT Fight Sports, White stated that the current UFC bantamweight champion Merab Dvalishvili could be the face of the first UFC event in Georgia.
34-year-old Dvalishvili last fought Cory Sandhagen on October 5 at UFC 320. In that fight, Merab won by unanimous decision, successfully defending his UFC bantamweight title. His professional record stands at 21 wins and four losses.
Dvalishvili’s UFC debut was unsuccessful; in December 2017 at UFC Fight Night 123, he lost to Frankie Saenz by split decision.
