Russian UFC fighter Andrey Pulyaev, in an exclusive interview with Telecomasia.net, shared his thoughts on the rematch between Magomed Ankalaev and Alex Pereira.
Honestly, what happened in the Ankalaev vs. Pereira rematch was a shock to me. I thought the second fight would be more or less like the first. Ankalaev would win by decision. But the way it went down – that was clearly unexpected for Magomed’s fans.
“Ankalaev started normally, being cautious and focusing on defense as usual. Magomed is an excellent counterpuncher. But that one shot he missed… Unfortunately, no one is safe from that.
It would be great to see Magomed fight Jiri Procházka or the Australian guy – Carlos Ulberg,” Pulyaev said.
In the main event at UFC 320, Alex Pereira knocked out Magomed Ankalaev two minutes into the fight and took the rematch. The Brazilian regained the UFC light heavyweight title. Recall that in March 2025, Ankalaev won the first fight by unanimous decision. Pereira’s record is 13 wins and 3 losses. Ankalaev’s updated record is 20 wins, 2 losses, 1 draw, and 1 no contest.
