Marco Odermatt, the 2022 Olympic champion in giant slalom, three-time World Champion (2023, 2025), and Swiss alpine skier, shared that he was subjected to sexual harassment by a female fan.
The 28-year-old athlete noted that the fan slapped Odermatt on the buttocks in a bar in the town of Sun Valley, Idaho, USA. The woman later explained her action was due to a $5,000 bet.
Odermatt said in an interview with the Swiss Ski Federation magazine:
She found it funny; I did not. In this day and age, that is completely unacceptable. Imagine the scandal that would erupt if it was the other way around.
The skier also added that athletes are partly to blame for the situation because they share many events from their personal lives on social media.
To recall, Odermatt is also the winner of 49 World Cup stages and a four-time winner of the overall trophy (2021/2022, 2022/2023, 2023/2024, 2024/2025).
