American Olympic Medalist Kerley Arrested After Beating Former Girlfriend

Fred Kerley, American sprinter and two-time Olympic medalist, was arrested on charges of beating his ex-girlfriend, hurdler Alaysha Johnson following a fight at a Miami hotel.

This is the second such incident involving Kerley in 2025. In January, he was involved in a confrontation with a police officer. According to LetsRun, the recent arrest occurred after a fight at the hotel where athletes for the upcoming Grand Slam Track tournament were staying. The 29-year-old athlete is currently in custody.

Organizers of the Grand Slam Track tournament have stated that Kerley will not compete in Miami and that his participation in future events is uncertain.

Earlier in 2025, Kerley was also arrested in Miami after an altercation with law enforcement. In February, he denied charges relating to assault on a police officer and resisting arrest.

Kerley’s achievements include a silver medal at the 2020 Olympics, a bronze at the 2024 Games, and three world titles: 100m sprint in 2022, 4x100m relay in 2023, and 4x400m relay in 2019.
