A scandal has erupted in Germany: the German national anti-doping agency withheld information about 76 athletes found to have used banned substances over the past five years.
According to ARD, information about these cases became known to journalists only after the positive result of a doping test of Martin Hiller, world champion in rowing. It is noteworthy that this information was not available in the official database of the agency.
The World Anti-Doping Code obliges anti-doping organizations to publish data on all proven cases of anti-doping rule violations, including the names of doping athletes.
It is reported that between 2020 and 2025, the German agency systematically violated this requirement by not publicly disclosing the names of violators.
