IOC Halts Competitions in Indonesia Due to Visa Refusals for Israelis

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) suspended negotiations with the National Olympic Committee of Indonesia regarding the hosting of international sports tournaments in the country.

The reason was the decision by Indonesian authorities to deny visas to Israeli gymnasts for participation in the World Championship in Jakarta.

TASS reports that the IOC recommended to national sports federations not to hold competitions in Indonesia and paused discussions on a possible 2036 Olympic Games bid in the country.

The World Artistic Gymnastics Championship is taking place from October 19 to 25.
