Iranian Volleyball Player Sharifi Sets World Record in Nations League Match

The match between the national teams of Iran and France during the third week of the Nations League was marked by a new world record: Iranian spiker Morteza Sharifi managed to serve the ball at a speed of 139 km/h.

The previous record was held by Polish player Wilfredo León, who formerly played for Kazakhstan’s Zenit. During the 2023 European Championship, León's serve reached a speed of 138 km/h.

Despite the record-breaking serve, France won the match 3-0 (26-24, 25-16, 26-24). The Iranian team finished in eighth place in the preliminary round, which was not enough to qualify for the quarter-finals of the Nations League. China, as the host nation, qualified as the eighth team for the quarter-finals.
