Israel Team Refuses To Withdraw From Vuelta a España Despite Protests

The Israel-Premier Tech team announced it will continue participating in the Vuelta a España despite incidents of protests during stages.

On stage 11 of the race the winner was not determined: organizers stopped the stage three kilometers from the finish because of unrest caused by pro‑Palestinian protesters frustrated with the presence of the Israeli team. The stage covered 157.4 km on roads around Bilbao.

The team’s statement emphasized that withdrawing would create a dangerous precedent not only for Israel-Premier Tech but for cycling as a whole.

The race finishes on September 14.
