Italy’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Deputy Prime Minister Antonio Tajani announced the country’s intention to propose a global ceasefire initiative at the United Nations during the 2026 Winter Olympic Games.
The proposal for an “Olympic ceasefire” will be presented at the UN and will cover all active conflict zones, including the conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East, Tajani specified.
The 2026 Winter Olympics will be held in the Italian cities of Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo from February 6 to 22, 2026.
