It was Laura's clear and written wishes that in an instance such as this, no one should risk their own lives in order to rescue her. This is also in line with the express wishes of the relatives, who have requested Laura's last wishes be respected.
On Tuesday, July 29, it was reported that the German athlete was caught in a rockfall during an ascent in Pakistan, which led to her death. The incident took place on July 28 at an altitude of around 5,700 meters.
Search efforts for Dahlmeier lasted two days, and on Wednesday, news confirmed that she had died.
