More than 15 thousand people have signed a petition directed against chess player Vladimir Kramnik. Earlier, FIDE announced that it would review statements concerning the late chess player Daniel Naroditsky.
Social media users accuse Kramnik of applying psychological pressure on the American chess player. On the change.org platform , a petition calling for the disqualification of Russian grandmaster Vladimir Kramnik and the stripping of his honorary titles has gathered over 15 thousand signatures.
The petition appeared in response to Kramnik’s remarks about the American chess player Daniel Naroditsky, who passed away on October 20. He was 29 years old, and the circumstances of his death remain unclear.
In the summer of 2024, Kramnik accused Naroditsky of cheating during games. Following the American chess player's passing, the Russian grandmaster said he was the only one to discuss Naroditsky's issues publicly.
Additionally, he placed some of the blame for Naroditsky’s death on the American’s circle. People on social media are condemning Kramnik, feeling his criticism might have led to the tragic outcome. Kramnik declared his intent to defend his reputation in court in response to the accusations and threats.
