Speed Skater Kok Breaks 12-Year-Old 500m World Record

Dutch speed skater Femke Kok set a new world record in the 500 meters at the ISU World Cup event in Salt Lake City, United States, with a time of 36.09 seconds.

She surpassed the previous record of 36.36 seconds, set by South Korean skater Lee Sang-hwa in November 2013.

The 2025-26 ISU Speed Skating World Cup season began on November 14 and will conclude on January 25. The next event will be held in Calgary, Canada, from November 21 to 23.

The current World Cup champion in the women’s 500 meters is American Erin Jackson.
