British cyclist Chris Froome has started light training following a serious injury. He shared a video of his home workouts on social media.
In late summer, while training in southern France, the 40-year-old Froome lost control after catching a curb and collided at high speed with a road sign. He was airlifted to a hospital in Toulon, where doctors found fractures in five ribs and a vertebra, as well as lung damage. Surgery revealed a tear in the pericardium – the membrane that protects the heart and holds it in the chest cavity.
Froome is a four-time overall winner of the Tour de France (2013, 2015-2017), two-time winner of the Vuelta a España (2011, 2017), and winner of the Giro d’Italia (2018). He also earned two Olympic bronze medals (2012, 2016).
