Vietnamese Players Removed From U21 World Championship After Failing Gender Tests

The International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) disqualified Vietnam’s team from the Under-21 Women’s World Championship over a gender test, Jakarta Globe reports.

The national team fielded two players who were identified as male. The tests were conducted after a request from opponents.

The team’s matches were annulled and the athletes were disqualified. The Vietnam Volleyball Federation (VFV) has appealed, saying it met all requirements set by the FIVB. VFV says the FIVB later introduced additional requirements that had not been applied before.
