A tragedy in Italy claimed the life of 15-year-old figure skater Matilda Ferrari. According to Il Fatto Quotidiano, she was hit by a cement truck on September 15 while crossing the street.
According to the outlet, Matilda was waiting for a bus on her way to school. At about 7:15 local time, near the bus stop, she was hit by a heavy truck while crossing at a pedestrian crosswalk, accompanied by friends who were uninjured.
The truck driver was unable to react and stop. Eyewitnesses say the vehicle was moving on a green traffic light. Emergency medics and firefighters tried to resuscitate her, but their efforts failed and doctors pronounced her dead.
In 2024 Matilda won a bronze medal at the Italian Cup.
