Journalist Jose Morgado reports that world No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz will not play for Spain in the second round of the 2025 Davis Cup because of fatigue after winning the 2025 US Open.
Alcaraz, 22, beat Italy’s Jannik Sinner in the US Open final 6–2, 3–6, 6–1, 6–4 to reclaim the top spot in the ATP singles ranking. Spain will face Denmark in Marbella on September 13–14. Fourteen teams compete in the Davis Cup second round. The final phase of the tournament takes place in Bologna, Italy, from November 18 to 23.
