Starting in 2026, the International Tennis Federation (ITF) will change its name to World Tennis. This was announced by the organization’s media service.
The decision was approved by an overwhelming majority of votes from national tennis associations at the ITF’s annual general meeting. The name change aims to better reflect the organization’s role as the global governing body and protector of the sport, as well as its significant role alongside member countries in the worldwide promotion of tennis.
The choice of the name World Tennis came after extensive research that identified the need for a name that more fully represents the organization’s scope of influence and its importance to the tennis community.
The ITF was founded in March 1913 and currently unites 213 national organizations.
