Australian tennis player Nick Kyrgios, a finalist at Wimbledon 2022, sarcastically reacted to the news that world number one Jannik Sinner has resumed working with fitness coach Umberto Ferrara.
He got the same doc back. We have been played, ladies and gentlemen.
Earlier, Sky Sport Italia reported on Ferrara's return to Sinner's team. The coach is set to work with the Italian at the Cincinnati tournament and the US Open. Ferrara previously collaborated with Sinner from May 2022 to September 2024 but they parted ways after a doping scandal.
In Spring 2024, the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) reported that Sinner tested positive for clostebol on two occasions. Sinner proved that the substance entered his body accidentally, as physiotherapist Giacomo Naldi applied a cream containing the banned substance to a cut following Ferrara's advice. Despite this, in February 2025, WADA suspended the tennis player for three months.
