Italian player Jannik Sinner, a four-time Grand Slam champion and world No. 2, has joined the elite group of players who, over the past 25 years, have reached the semifinals of the ATP Finals three years in a row.
His victory yesterday over German Alexander Zverev in the second match of the group stage secured his place in the knockout rounds.
Since 2000, this feat of achieving three or more consecutive semifinal appearances at the ATP Finals has been achieved only by Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic (during the periods 2012-2016 and 2020-2023), Swiss players Roger Federer (2002-2007, 2009-2015, 2017-2019), and Stan Wawrinka (2013-2015).
Sinner is currently the reigning champion of the ATP Finals. In 2023, he lost to Djokovic in the final.
