Five Odds For Friday’s Friendlies : Accumulator Tip For July 18

The beautiful game of football continues on Friday as the Club Friendlies attempt to pit teams who look to experiment with tactics, and perhaps give new or younger players a decent chance to fit in with the club instructions - all without the necessary consequences faced in the league. Many of these teams will be meeting for the first time ever. I will be picking three events from the pack: Rheindorf Altach vs Freiburg, Rennes vs FC Brest, AS Saint Etienne vs Servette.

Rheindorf Altach vs Freiburg.

Austrian side Rheindorf Altach will review new team instructions as they take on German side Freiburg who took a brief sabbatical from league matters. Rheindorf Altach managed a 3-1 win against Swiss side Luzern last week, as an improvement over the 1-1 stalemate against FC Basel.

Freiburg on the other hand will take a brief break from the league to square up against their hosts with the aim of integrating new tactics, and team instructions. They have scored at least a goal in eight recent consecutive games, and while much cannot be done to mitigate the circumstances in the team, who will surely rest key players, a BTTS seems like the most probable outcome from the contest.

The German side are huge favourites, but Rheindorf Altach are also formidable in front of goal, so betting for both teams to score is very decent.

Stade Rennes vs FC Brest

Competition in the French Ligue 1 seems to continue in the bystanding Friendlies as Stade Rennes push for prestige against Stade Brestois. Ten recent clashes between these sides produced five wins for Stade Rennes, three stalemates and two wins for Brest.

Rennes struggled against Championnat -2 side Stade Briochin last week in a 1-1 struggle that saw their fans greatly disappointed. 

Stade Brestois aced their ninety-minute ordeal against Concarneau in a 2-1 encounter that served as relief from the 6-0 league embarrassment against OGC Nice. The team looks to continue testing tactical approaches which will prove handy on their return to the domestic league.

My personal conviction is for a BTTS, which is becoming a rivalry trend in the last three direct clashes but I will pick the O2.5 option, since it is the safest.

AS Saint Etienne vs Servette

The Friendlies unveil two teams from the Swiss Super League and the French Ligue 2. While Saint Etienne was the better side against Troyes in the 1-0 pitch endeavour last week, Servette also forced a 3-2 stalemate against Xamax, strugglers from the Swiss Challenge League who refuse to bend a knee walking away with pride after equalising the first half initial deficit. Since this will be a first for both sides to contend, we expect a solid game from the two sides. 

Goals will be regular in both halves as AS Saint Etienne faces Servette, but not numerous. I’m sticking with goals on both ends.
