The Celtics had a doubleheader the night before game. Joe Mazzulla's team won both games, and they played with a lot of confidence, even though the level of the opponents was quite high. First, Boston beat New York (131-104) at Madison Square Garden by almost 30 points, and then in Florida, they beat Miami (103-85), the representative of the Eastern Conference playoff zone.

San Antonio
