Jonny Clayton vs. Michael Smith: Who Will Take the Title Home?

Jonny Clayton and Michael Smith, two well-known professional dart players, will participate on March 31st, 2022. The game will take place at the Ulilita Arena in Birmingham. This game will be played as the final 2022 Premier League Darts game.

Jonny Clayton – Up For A Win This Time

Clayton was ranked first in the league after the sixth evening of play. He dropped as low as eighth before climbing to fourth place for night 16. To qualify for the play-offs, he needed to at least draw. He was successful, as he won his game against Dimitri Van den Bergh 8-6.

Clayton competed in the World Grand Prix, reaching the final after defeating Callan Rydz, José de Sousa, Krzysztof Ratajski, and Danny Noppert. In the final, Clayton won his third major competition of the year with a 5-1 triumph over World No. 1 Gerwyn Price. Clayton won his fourth TV trophy of the year three weeks later, defeating Dimitri Van den Bergh 11–6 in the World Series of Darts Finals final.

Michael Smith – Not Gonna Make it Easy

Smith began his 2022 PDC World Darts Championship campaign with a 3–0 victory against Ron Meulenkamp before falling 4–2 to William O'Connor. In the following two games, he faced two of the most in-form players from the 2021 season, first defeating Jonny Clayton in a last-set shootout that lasted to extra legs and then defeating reigning champion Gerwyn Price, surviving two match darts before winning the final set. Smith established an early lead against James Wade in the semi-final and won 6–3 to get to the final for the second time in his career. Smith was defeated 7–5 in the final by Peter Wright and was awarded £200,000 as runner-up.

Both of the players are in their best forms and are amongst the best darts players in the world. However, odd suggests that this is Clayton’s time to secure a victory against Michael Smith this season.
