Apeks vs Legacy Prediction: It is tough for the Europeans to play against the Brazilians' style

Apeks

The European team is struggling to keep up with the competition in the opening stages of the Major. Apeks has only played BO1 matches so far, with a win against AMKAL Esports (16:13) and two losses against Imperial Esports (7:13) and paIN Gaming (8:13). Another Brazilian team is ready to give STYKO a fight. 

Apeks has significant problems with their attack - only a 33% win rate for the T-side. And if the issues against Imperial Esports were due to the peculiarities of the map (the attack side wins 45% of the time), on Vertigo, the Europeans did not expect aggression from their opponent. Hence, the second global problem is that Apeks cannot adapt to the game against the Brazilians. They play more aggressively at the majors, and the Apeks players want to play their billets and rounds more reliably. Another factor is the bans. In BO1, the Brazilians consistently banned Apeks' signature Ancient and Anubis, so the Europeans had to play the weak Overpass twice. Still, we can single out jkaem - the Norwegian has good stats and HLTV against the rest of the team.

Now it's BO3, and the European team consistently takes such series to the third map — 82% of the time, the score is either 2:1 or 1:2. Apeks is a tough team to play in Copenhagen, and the team's elimination from the top four of the last Major will be no surprise.

Legacy

Coldzera and company can already be proud of their performance at the PGL Major Copenhagen 2024 - they were predicted to go 0-3 with only two days of play. Still, they are hanging in there and could very well go 2:2. In the tournament, Legacy won a crucial derby against FURIA Esports (16:13), nearly outplayed Cloud9 (10:13), and only lost to GamerLegion (4:13).

Unlike Apeks, it cannot be said that Legacy is not good against European teams. The match against Cloud9 was lost due to an incredible Cambeck from Cloud9, and against Legacy, Vertigo, usually banned by the Brazilians, somehow fell out. After losing to GamerLegion, the Legacy players have slipped significantly in the individual stats - latto and dumau are considered the best with 1.03 and 1.01 HLTV points respectively. Coldzera, on the other hand, is not among the players with a favorable rating (0.96). Legacy also has significant problems in attack (less than 30% win rate) but is adequate in defense (60%).

The bookmakers still favor Apeks, but it is tough for the Europeans to play against the Brazilians' style. Because Apeks is playing BO3 until the third MAP, we cannot take any risks and wait for the whole series.
