Wednesday, July 07, sees the first day of qualifying for The International 10 in China. Elephant and Team MagMa open the tournament with a head-to-head encounter.
The International 10 China Qualifier is the Chinese indoor qualifier for Dota2’s biggest tournament of the year, The International 10. The ten teams from the region that didn’t make it directly to the internationals will compete for a sole place in the tournament. The Chinese will decide who gets the slot from July 07-10, 2021.
Elephant: The main favourite to start with a win
Elephant failed in both DPC leagues. The stellar team was the main disappointment of the China region. Fifth place in the two DPC leagues left the boys with no majors and practically no DPC points, so their only chance of making it to the International was to win qualification. The elephants were very lucky that the four strongest Chinese teams had already qualified for the International, and they would essentially fight only with EHOME and RNG. The task wasn’t the most difficult, but to meet it and not be the batting boys of the future as the boys needed a change.
The only unpleasant thing in 2021 was for Elephant at the FMWH Dota2 Championship Season 3 tournament in March, in which they finished third while playing without their RedPanda five. He was sick, but at the end of May, after another DPC league debacle, the team decided to switch sides, with RedPanda leaving Elephant and Super joining from RNG. The star-studded squad needed an in-game leader, a role RedPanda could not cope with. As for Super, this is a player who has excellent credibility, has experience with coach rOtK and the foursome of the fy team.
The team has not played since May 20, and rOtK has purposefully prepared this team for the main start of this year.
Elephant has been in existence for less than a year and has managed to win two major Chinese tournaments, China Dota2 Pro Cup Season 2 and OGA Dota PIT S4: China. They finished in second place in their debut championship, the CDA-FDC Professional Championship, but so far, the star-studded Chinese squad has failed to make much progress in 2021.
Team MagMa: Unlucky starting opponent
Team MagMa sensationally played in China’s elite first DPC league. Still, after an abysmal showing, they dropped to the second division, where they didn’t even make it into the top 3 and stayed in the same division.
After the first DPC season, which ended in seventh place in the top division, the team has played several more games. In the FMWH Dota2 Championship Season 3, guys failed in the group stage, losing all four games, then qualified to the i-League 2021 not bad, but the tournament itself, Team MagMa did not do well either; the team was eighth.
What are the chances of getting to the International? In fact, minimal. It’s too early for this team for a tournament that will bring together all the world’s elite.
