Saturday, June 26 marks the third game day of South American qualifiers for The International 10. Infinity and SG e-sports will determine the first finalist of the qualifiers.
The International 10 South America Qualifier is the South American open qualifier for Dota2’s biggest tournament of the year, The International 10. The 12 teams from the region that didn’t make it directly to the International will compete for one ticket to the main tournament. South America will determine the winner from June 23-26, 2021.
Infinity: Qualifications’ biggest surprise
It was hard to imagine how Infinity, the No.8 team in the DPC league, would make it to the Winner final after overcoming NoPing e-sports (2-1) and Team Unknown (2-1). That leaves the third favourite, the Brazilians from SG e-sports, and by defeating them, the Peruvians will sensationally qualify for the final.
This Peruvian team plays a lot online, but so far has not shown high results on Tier 1 in South America. The boys started the year 2021 in the second division of the DPC league, which they won. Once in the elite, the team finished in the last place, winning only one BO3 meeting, so the experts gave very little chance with NoPing e-sports, but South America showed on the first day of qualifications that it is almost impossible to predict the outcome of the games.
SG e-sports: The whole of Brazil is behind them
SG e-sports is the second straight contender, along with NoPing, for a single slot at The International 10. The Brazilians have had a poor showing in the second DPC league and barely managed to keep their slot, but they put up a very solid performance in qualification.
Before the qualification for the International, the main Brazilian team was the INVie vice-champion, twice losing suddenly to Team Unknown, with whom they could have met in the final of the upper bracket.
The first game was supposed to be a warm-up game, but Team BINOMISTAS (2-1) gave battle to their compatriots. The second match was against EgoBoys (2-0) and had no problems at all.
