FlyQuest won their first LCS Summer Championship title after a tough playoff run, but questions remain about how they will perform on the international stage. Their results at MSI 2024 were far from ideal, as the team suffered a series of 0:2 losses and finished the tournament in 9th-10th place.
Nevertheless, this season's lineup showed resilience and perseverance. In the summer split, FlyQuest finished third in the regular season and did well in the top set of playoffs. Although they lost to Team Liquid in a tight five-game series (3:2), the team quickly recovered by defeating 100 Thieves in the lower grid finals and claimed the title in the Grand Finals with a 3:1 victory over Liquid. This championship title confirms FlyQuest's resilience, but they need to maintain this level of play to be successful at Worlds.
GAM Esports
GAM Esports had an impressive start at Worlds 2024, a stark contrast to their disappointing performance at the Mid-Season Invitational 2024. The first seeded Vietnamese team did not suffer a single defeat on their way to the Swiss Stage, first defeating second seeded PCS Fukuoka Softbank Hawks 2:0 and then confidently beating Movistar R7 from Latin America by the same score in the qualifying match.
Top lineman Tran Kiaya Kiaya Duy Sang and Duy Eevi Han Kian Do were particularly prominent in this success, playing a key role in strengthening the team and keeping it stable. The Vietnamese have shown that they can fight any team in the Swiss, but these guys should not expect much success.
