Palmeiras vs América-MG Prediction: The league leader Palmeiras hosts the last-placed team

The upcoming match in the Brasileirão features two teams at opposite ends of the table. Brazil's champion, Palmeiras, shares the lead with Flamengo in a frenetic finish to the Série A, with just three games left to play. The Verdão can't afford to drop points, least of all against relegated América-MG, the last team in the table.

Despite the two-goal draw at the Castelão against Fortaleza, the Paulistas remain in first place, although now with the same 63 points as Flamengo. The first tie-breaker is the number of victories, but as both teams have the same 18 wins, the Paulistas lead because they have a goal difference of 26 compared to 17 for the Cariocas. The number of goals could well decide the Brasileirão, so besides winning against América being a must, if Palmeiras can win by a large margin, so much the better.

América-MG

There's not much to say about the last-placed team in the league. The Rabbit will be playing in the Série B next season, and right now, everyone at the club wants the championship to end as soon as possible. The team is eight points behind the penultimate team, Coritiba, so in all likelihood, América will finish last. In the last round, the Mineiros lost 3-0 at home to Flamengo and now play another title contender.

Palmeiras is the clear favorite, and it would be a scandal not to beat the worst team in the Brasileirão now that it has stolen first place from Botafogo. As goal difference can decide the title, Palmeiras will likely try to win by scoring as many goals as possible. I'm betting that Endrick will score against América. The 17-year-old, signed by Real Madrid, has already scored nine goals in the Série A. The odds for a Palmeiras victory are low, but it's a safe bet.
