Honduras vs Haiti Prediction: Expect a win for the guests

After losing 0:4 to Mexico in the first leg, Honduras could have lost their playoff chances in their second-round match against Qatar. And the Hondurans were very close to doing so. Already in the game's opening stages, Qatar took the lead and then played in the favorite manner of their current coach Carlos Queiroz - strictly on defense. In the second half, the team still managed to create a couple of more or less dangerous chances, but it seemed to end there. The opportunity came suddenly - on 90+6, where Brest's forward Albert Elyse scored (1:1).

Honduras miraculously stayed in the race to reach the quarter-finals, but now if they beat Haiti and Qatar to lose points against Mexico, they will be in the quarter-finals.

Haiti

The Haitians also scored against Qatar in the final seconds, but in the first round, not the second. And that goal brought Haiti victory (2:1), not a draw. And so far, that goal is the key to their final place in Group B. After all, a draw against Honduras, even if the Qataris beat Mexico in the parallel encounter, would allow Haiti to retain second place in the quartet.

The Haitians played their second leg against Mexico and lost it. It was a 1:3 defeat, with all the goals scored in the second half. Early in the game, the team conceded two goals in eight minutes, scored one in the 78th, but got another back. However, given the current form of the Mexican national team, it was hard to expect any other outcome.

Despite the 1:3 from Mexico, Haiti can be commended for the game. The team of the young Spanish coach Calderon even in the match against the main tournament favorite, did not move away from their football, playing aggressively and offensively. In the decisive moments against the Mexicans, the Haitians simply lacked skill. There is no doubt that in the game with Honduras, the team will play in an attacking style, and, quite likely, this time, they will have enough.

Honduras makes a strange impression and doesn't seem to be outclassing itself in the recent World Cup 2022 qualifying. Back then, Honduras did not score a single win in 14 games, had only four points, and finished last with a goal difference of 7:26, six points behind the penultimate team (El Salvador), and 21 points behind fourth place (the zone of the qualifying games)! The coach was changed. Prospects, frankly, are not visible at all. Signing a young Spaniard from Haiti looks like a much more productive decision.
