It was only for the fourth time in their last five Championship encounters that Leeds United managed a comfortable clean sheet last weekend against their hosts in South Wales at the Cardiff City Stadium as they emerged victorious. The first to leave for the Bluebirds would be Joel Bagan, who was withdrawn in the 23rd minute after which the Whites took over possession and ran out successful as Largie Ramazani and Joel Piroe found the back of the net. Although Leeds won, the fans were mixed in reactions over the midfield system that played. They still maintained a double pivot of Ethan Ampadu and Ilia Gruev as they remained in command, enjoying a numerical advantage in the encounter.

The victory sent Leeds into sixth place in the Championship table, with a full hope of gaining positive momentum before October's international break. They stand five points behind West Bromwich Albion and four points behind Sunderland, who have seen a flying start to the season under Regis Le Bris.

In actualities, Leeds are expected to enhance their performance at Elland Road and fit 53,000 fans before the proposed extension of the stadium.

Having won four consecutive matches where they hadn't even tasted defeat, both in the Championship and in the EFL Cup, within the month of August, Coventry City has faced consecutive problems on the field in its latest matches. The club has not won a match in the second tier since their last four encounters, the latest being a 2-1 loss to Swansea City last Saturday.

Coventry fell 2-0 behind within the first 32 minutes, when visitors Liam Cullen and Oliver Cooper scored. Even when Ronald Pereira's own goal gave them some semblance of hope, they could not manage to come back into the game in the East Midlands in the second half of this game.

With only two points from their last four Championship matches, Coventry is currently placed at 19th in the second-tier standings with a total of five. They are already six points behind Leeds United, who hold the final playoff position.

Their manager, Mark Robins, will be concerned by the slightly longer term patterns as the team has won only one of their last 12 matches in the Championship since April. The pattern is more like that of a relegation side for most of the season.

The two strikers, Haji Wright and Ellis Simms, both have a total of 29 goals in their last season but have yet to find the back of the net this season as they have only scored a total of two goals in 12 games in the division so far.

Even though Leeds have not been on a smooth ride at Elland Road lately, they are bound to go into their match against Coventry on Saturday as huge favorites. Coventry has definitely had poor performances up to now, and limited options in midfield may prove a bit too costly against Leeds' out-field attack. That can translate into more losses for the club in the short term.
