Manchester City are placed in Group G in the FIFA Club World Cup. The only threat in this group is Juventus, who are the current leaders thanks to a better goal differential.
Pep Guardiola's men made a perfect start in this tournament, securing a comfortable 2-0 win against Wydad Casablanca to cement their status as the current defending champions.
Phil Foden opened the scoring two minutes inside the first half before Jeremy Doku put the final nail in the coffin by putting his team two goals up in the 42nd minute.
Manchester City: Team News
Rico Lewis is unavailable for the home team after receiving a straight red card in the opener against Wydad Casablanca. The 20-year-old will miss the remaining two group stage games.
Head coach Pep Guardiola is likely to go with Matheus Nunes as a replacement for the suspended Lewis.
🔖 Probable Starting XI (4-2-3-1): Ederson; Nunes, Dias, Ake, O'Reilly; Silva, Reijnders; Savinho, Foden, Doku; Marmoush.
⛔️ Out: Jack Grealish (inactive), Mateo Kovacic (achilles tendon injury), Mahamadou Susoho (inactive).
👤 Head coach: Pep Guardiola.
Al Ain FC: Form and Statistics
Al Ain FC are in the FIFA Club World Cup for just the second time in club history. In their debut campaign in 2019, they turned out to be surprise packages by reaching their first ever final. However, things didn't go according to plan as they lost 4-1 to Real Madrid to finish as runners-up.
In the current campaign, they were able to secure their ticket in this competition thanks to their strong performance in the 2023–24 AFC Champions League. They were crowned champions for the first time in 21 years courtesy of a 6-3 aggregrate win against Japan's Yokohama F. Marinos.
Their opening match was far from being a positive outcome. They were pitted against Juventus, and a porous defense turned out to be their doing. From conceding four goals in the first half to the last one in the second half, they succumbed to an embarrassing 5-0 defeat.
Al Ain FC: Team News
After the 5-0 thrashing at the hands of Juventus in the opener, head coach Vladimir Ivić is going to approach this game with a different setup.
We could see a 4-3-3 formation being deployed with Kodjo Laba leading the attack. Yahia Nader, who was impressive after being introduced in the 68th minute, is going to start this one off the bench. The 26-year-old joins Yong-Woo Park and Matias Palacios in midfield.
🔖 Probable Starting XI (4-3-3): Patricio; Traore, Kouadio, Rabia, Zabala; Palacios, Park, Nader; Rahimi, Laba, Kaku.
⛔️ Out: None.
👤 Head coach: Vladimir Ivić.

Manchester City vs Al Ain FC match Prediction 23 June 2025
Manchester City managed to win their opening match against Wydad Casablanca in the FIFA Club World Cup. However, the stats didn't reflect the number of goals scored as the Citizens were expected to secure a commanding win. We are inclined to believe that this time, it will be a dominant display.
Pep Guardiola's men are overwhelming favourites to secure their second win in this competition. I see them dominating the game from start to finish and, in the process, keep a clean sheet. Al Ain had trouble scoring last time out, and backing them not to score in this one is the right call.
