Borussia Dortmund vs TSG Hoffenheim Prediction: Dortmund to return to winning ways

In the Bundesliga on Sunday, February 25, Borussia Dortmund hosts Hoffenheim at Signal Iduna Park. Borussia Dortmund will resume Bundesliga play on Sunday at home against Hoffenheim, following a midweek Champions League draw against PSV Eindhoven. Following eight league games in which they have failed to win, the visitors will be eager to depart Signal Iduna Park with three points.

When it comes to the league in 2024, Hoffenheim has lost their last eight games. They just suffered their first home loss since November, losing 1-0 to Union Berlin after three straight draws. with the injury list growing ever tall, it remains to be seen the league position of Hoffenheim when the season ends. 

Borussia Dortmund

With a 1-1 draw in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 encounter against PSV, Dortmund's undefeated streak now stands at 10 games across all competitions. Edin Terzic's team, now in fourth place and one point ahead of RB Leipzig in fifth, will now shift their attention back to league play as their Champions League matchup is set to take place in the second leg next month.

After losing three and drawing eight of their 22 league games, the yellow submarine is now 17 points behind leaders Bayer Leverkusen and unfortunately out of the title contention. Dortmund will be optimistic about gaining all three points on Sunday despite their lack of consistency this season. They have won their past two league home games, 3-0 and 3-1, against Freiburg and Bochum, respectively. Additionally, they have triumphed over Hoffenheim twice this season, first in a 3-1 league victory in September and then in a close 1-0 DFB-Pokal match in November.

TSG Hoffenheim

With his team's close 1-0 loss to Union Berlin last weekend, which stretched their winless streak to eight Bundesliga games, Matarazzo's job as Hoffenheim manager has come under criticism.

With six points separating Matarazzo's team from the top six going into this weekend's games, the ninth-place team will need to spur an immediate improvement in their performance if they are to resume their European drive.

Their chances of getting a win on Sunday, though, will be limited because they have dropped four of their last five away games in the top division.

Hoffenheim has to strengthen their defence if they want to win their first game against Dortmund since June 2020, as they have conceded at least two goals in each of those five away games.
