Asante Kotoko vs Accra Hearts of Oak Prediction: Both teams will be pleased with a point in this evenly contested Super Sunday class

Two of the most successful teams in the Ghanaian Premier League will lock horns at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday. It has been a tidy Derby over the last five games; however, we expect a more open match this weekend even though most of their key players won’t be available. Due to the forthcoming CHAN Tournament, both teams' players are currently in the camp representing the Black Galaxies as they prepare for their clash against Nigeria next week. This clash comes with a big reward, as the winner gets to move into the top four.

Before the election break, Asante Kotoko ended their six consecutive games without a breakthrough with a (0-2) victory over Aduana Stars. After four losses in a row, Patrick Asiedu and Albert Amoah scored a goal apiece to secure their side the maximum points away from home. This was after Asante Kotoko suffered a setback against Nations FC on their ground, conceding two unanswered goals. Asante Kotoko dropped to sixth place on the standing, picking up eighteen points from a combined thirty-six.

Ouattara Aboubakar's men maintained their unbeaten run in the division as they settled for a share of the spoils against Nsoatreman on their home turf. It was not a convincing display for a side who won three consecutive games against tougher opponents but shared the spoils in front of their home supporters against Nsoatreman. 

They have also kept seven clean sheets in their last ten matches in the league. Hearts of Oak have now picked up nineteen points from a combined thirty-six, scoring nine and conceding six. 

Hearts of Oak have lost just one of their last seven away games, but it’s a difficult game against the hosts tomorrow.

The last twenty meetings have seen Asante Kotoko with ten wins, while Hearts of Oak have managed five victories and five games ending in a share of the spoils. The Porcupine Warriors have not been able to perform at the highest level in recent games, and this game might have come at the wrong time for them. On the opposing end, Hearts of Oaks have been up and running lately as they march here without a defeat in four games. 

In this campaign, Asante Kotoko have had one of their worst forms on their ground with three wins in six home games. It’s going to be a challenging game for both teams who will play this game without some of their key players.
