We played a tough Ikorodu City team on Wednesday and ended up with a goalless draw. It was a frustrating afternoon. Finidi George, the technical manager, wanted to keep the momentum going after our 3-1 win over the Black Bulls of Mozambique in the CAF Champions League, which got us into the group stage. But Ikorodu City made it hard for us. Michael Atata made the first save by stopping a header from Wasiu Falolu. On the other end, Osagie Onisodumeya made a great save by stretching out all the way to stop a shot from Chidera Oparaocha. Ikorodu City's defense was very strong, making it hard to find space in the attacking third. Timothy Zachariah tried to get through by beating two defenders and running into the box, but his shot was blocked. Taiwo AbdulRafiu also came close, but his cross was blocked, and the follow-up was cleared. Before halftime, Seyi Oguntayo shot over the bar and Wasiu Falolu curled one just wide. Ikorodu City kept getting on our nerves in the second half. Boluwaji Sholumade's header went just over the bar after an hour. We had a hard time finding the breakthrough as the game came to an end. Samson Obi came closest with a shot from inside the box, but Atata made a great save with five minutes left. There was a late call for a penalty after Okon Aniekeme was fouled, but the referee didn't agree. We had to be happy with a point.

Ebuka Akobundu will miss the match as he works on regaining full fitness. On a positive note, Emmanuel Nnaji and Ani Ozoemena are back in training and might be ready to play. Oga Boys captain Waliu Ojetoye, goalkeeper Michael Atata, and Musa Maliq, returning from injury, are all part of the squad in Port Harcourt. Joseph Arumala will need to be closely watched to prevent him from causing trouble for Rivers United. The Oga Boys have struggled at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium. They’ve lost both times they’ve played there, failing to score and conceding three goals. Their poor record continued in March when Rivers United won 1-0, with David Boluwaji Sholumade scoring the match-winning goal after a solid performance.

Nasarawa United stayed top of the NPFL table despite a tough weekend. The Solid Miners suffered a 2–0 defeat to Ikorodu City FC in Lagos, conceding more than once for the first time this season. The match, held at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, saw Chidera Oparaocha open the scoring in the 13th minute after a pass from Waliu Ojetoye. Joseph Arumala doubled the lead in the 68th minute, sealing Nasarawa’s second loss of the campaign. Despite several close chances from Anas Yusuf, Garba Mohammed, Jofrank Istifanus, and Ekeson Okorie, the Ikorodu goalkeeper and the woodwork kept them out. Even with the loss, Nasarawa United remain top with 19 points, four ahead of second-placed Shooting Stars on 15. The team will rest next weekend since their next opponents, Remo Stars, are on continental duty in South Africa. In Umuahia, Abia Warriors continued their strong run, beating Barau FC 2–0. Emeka Obioma scored in the 16th minute, and Sunday Megwo sealed the win in the 62nd. The result lifted Abia Warriors to 18 points—just one behind Nasarawa United, who still have a game in hand. Kwanta Yakubu, pledged ₦500,000 and awarded the players for their perseverance. Club chairman Isaac Danladi contributed ₦200,000, while devoted fan Peter “Pepsy” Anyebe supplemented the award. The ₦900,000 contribution reflected our faith in Nasarawa United, the NPFL season's surprise package. Rivers United vs Nasarawa United match prediction, 1st November 2025
Rivers United have been playing really well at home, winning 9 of their last 10 games (90%). They've been good at both attacking and defending. Nasarawa United, on the other hand, has had a hard time away from home, winning only 3 of their last 10 games (30%). This makes them weak in this game, and Rivers United is likely to win. In their last ten games, both teams have had trouble scoring three goals. Less than 40% of those games have had more than 2.5 goals. This makes it more likely that there will be fewer than 2.5 goals. The BTTS (Both Teams to Score) trend is mixed; one team scores a lot while the other doesn't. So, it's best to use this along with other stats like wins or goals. When they play away from home, Nasarawa United often gets 8 or more corners. They'll probably try to get set-piece chances, so betting on Over 7.5 Corners might be a good idea. Our advice: There will probably be less than 2.5 goals. In 70% of their last 10 home games, Rivers United has scored 2 or fewer goals. In 70% of their last 10 away games, Nasarawa United has scored 2 or fewer goals. These trends point to a match with few goals.
