AVS Futebol SAD vs Casa Pia: Prediction for the Match on August 15, 2025

AVS Futebol SAD will welcome Casa Pia to the Estadio do CD das Avesa in the second round of the Primeira Liga. In the previous season, meetings between these two sides were pretty tense affairs, with both matches ending in a 1-1 draw. Who's going to come out on top? Having struggled for positive results in the preseason games, coming away without a single win in four outings, one would've thought that AVS Futebol SAD's poor display would not follow them in their first competitive match last week.

The Vilas de Aves outfit found themselves being one of the seven teams in the Primeira Liga to suffer an opening defeat. They locked horns with FC Arouca and were on the receiving end of a 3-1 away defeat.

For some, a return to their humble abode inspires confidence, but it's the complete opposite. Besides their recent 3-0 triumph over Vizela in the promotion/relegation playoffs, they had been on a poor run, taking into account their performance from last season. They were on a seven-match unbeaten run, recording five losses and two draws.

AVS Futebol SAD currently have two inactive players, including Kobamelo Kodisang and Daniel Rivas.

Last time out, head coach Jose Mota employed a 4-2-3-1 formation. Mota is expected to stick with the same setup, but there have been some changes to the lineup that lost their opening match against FC Arouca.

For instance, Jordi Escobar is replaced by veteran Nene in the attack. In defense, Jaume Grau moves from the full-back position to a central defensive midfielder, thus paving the way for Sidi Bane. Gustavo Assuncao will also be introduced in the central defensive midfielder position, while Lucas Piazon is also expected to make his first start for the team.

🔖 Probable Starting XI (4-2-3-1): Simao; Kiki, Santos, Devenish, Bane; Assuncao, Grau; Mucuana Lobo, Piazon, Akinsola; Nene.

⛔️ Out: Kobamelo Kodisang (inactive), Daniel Rivas (inactive).

👤 Head coach: Jose Mota.

Casa Pia can be forgiven for their setback in the opening match of the Primeira Liga. There was nothing they could do against the defending champions, Sporting CP, other than to accept their fate.

Conceding goals in either half witnessed them drop three points in a convincing 2-0 home defeat. It was a slow start in the first half that saw them register just one shot, but when the second half came, they were a completely different team, firing six shots at goal.

Os Gansos are on the road this time, hoping for a positive outcome. Whether it may be three points or just a point, they are confident about their chances of avoiding defeat against AVS Futebol SAD, a side they held to a 1-1 draw on the road last season.

Casa Pia have four players in the injury room, including Kiki (injury), Claudio Mendes (knee injury), Raul Blanco (leg injury), and Renato Nhago (injury).

Head coach Joao Pereira is expected to stick to the same 3-4-3 formation. However, there have been some slight changes to the starting lineup that lost against Sporting CP.

Two players are expected to make their first start for the team this Friday. Pablo Roberto replaces Nsona from the wing position, and Iyad Mohamed replaces Yassin Oukili in the central midfield position.

🔖 Probable Starting XI (3-4-3): Sequeira; Goulart Silva, Fonte, Tchamba; Larrazabal, Mohamed, Brito, Benaissa-Yahia; Livolant, Cassiano, Pablo Roberto.

⛔️ Out: Kiki (injury), Claudio Mendes (knee injury), Raul Blanco (leg injury), Renato Nhago (injury).

👤 Head coach: Joao Pereira.

Last season, AVS Futebol SAD and Casa Pia met each other two times in the Primeira Liga. Both meetings ended in a 1-1 draw.

  • AVS Futebol SAD have conceded a goal in both halves in each of their last two league games (including last season). You can bet on Casa Pia to score in both halves for 4.60 at Betway.
  • Casa Pia usually scores most of their goals in the second half. You can bet on Casa Pia to score in the second half for 1.90 at Bet365.
  • AVS Futebol SAD have lost the first half in three of their last six home league games. You can bet on Casa Pia to secure a half-time win for 3.52 at 1xbet.

AVS Futebol SAD registered a defeat in their opening match in the Primeira Liga and will be hoping to secure their first league win in front of their home crowd. However, that will be easier said than done, as their home performance has not been very convincing. In the previous season, they went seven league games without a win.

Casa Pia is also not a team to be trusted. They, too, were behind a disappointing performance on the road last season. The visitors failed to win in eight straight games. This could turn out to be a cagey affair, but for this particular match, I'm going with over 2.5 goals. Three of Casa Pia's last five matches have ended with over 2.5 goals, and AVS Futebol SAD have seen four of their last five produce over 2.5 goals.

Our match prediction: Total - Over 2.5 for a coefficient of 2.31 in the 1xbet bookmaker.

Our betting tip on the match: Both Teams To Score - Yes for a coefficient of 1.95 in the Betway bookmaker.

Our final betting tip on the match: Draw No Bet - Casa Pia for a coefficient of 1.83 in the Bet365 bookmaker.
