Not long ago, Lokomotiv said goodbye to German coach Josef Zinnbauer, who completely broke the game of the Loko. In 14 rounds, the team earned only 12 points, recording three wins and drawing twice. Because of this, it is left with no choice but to survive. Ahead of the Moscow derby, Lokomotiv are 14th from the safe zone. The club's management entrusted Andrei Fyodorov, who previously coached Lokomotiv Kazanka, to rectify the situation in the championship.

CSKA haven't been looking good of late. Currently, the Army Men suffered a four-match winless streak, three of which were drawn games - 1-1 with Dynamo, 2-2 with Spartak, and 2-2 with Orenburg. In the group stage of the Russian Cup, the Red and Blues also lost to Torpedo with a minimal score difference (0-1). In case of another failure in the Russian elite, CSKA risk dropping out of the top three. Thus, it currently sits third in the RPL table with the same number of points as bottom-placed Rostov (26).

It's not to say that Lokomotiv have changed dramatically under the new coach. Yes, the team won two of their last three matches, but beating Khimki and Torpedo is no reason to be proud. The showcase encounter was the Moscow derby with Dynamo, in which the Loko lost 1-3. CSKA, on the other hand, need to bounce back after failures in the previous three rounds. With this in mind, the Army Men will earn three points without too much trouble.
