Barcelona did well to defeat Villarreal narrowly, but that does not make them favourites for the upcoming games. At least not as a clear favourite. Betis are in a position to put up a fight against the Catalans.

To remind you that Barcelona first beat Espanyol thanks to penalties under Xavi, then drew with Benfica and finally beat Villarreal. Are these confident results? Yes, Barça look more disciplined, but they have not turned into monsters. A good, solid team. Just like Betis.

You can’t rebuild a team in three games. Like you can’t tear them apart on two fronts. And Barcelona have a crucial Champions League game next week. The Catalans need to beat Bayern, and very few can do that. I doubt they will put all their energy into beating Betis.

If anything, Betis have a run of four straight wins. And in that period, the team managed to reach the Europa League play-offs. The mood in Seville right now is great, so it’s hard to understand why Betis have to go to Barcelona to lose. They are plus or minus equal teams in terms of level at the moment, and Betis themselves are in great form. Why not try to get at least one point in such a situation? And if we do lose, we should do it with dignity.
