Milan has had the worst season in recent years. Under Stefano Pioli's leadership, the Red-Blacks finished in the Champions League competition, once even became Italian champions, and in the last Serie A they won silverware, but even this success did not allow the coach to keep his post. The club started a personnel restructuring, Paulo Fonseca was appointed as the new manager, who was soon fired, and Sergio Conceição took Milan to the Italian Super Cup in Saudi Arabia.
In the semifinals they beat Juventus 2:1, and in the final sensationally broke the resistance of Inter - 3:2, winning the trophy. Following Milan beat Roma in the Italian Cup, which allowed them to reach the semifinals, and therefore here too, the chances for the title remain. In addition, the Red-Blacks are gradually improving in Serie A: in the last four rounds they scored 10 out of 12 possible points, which allowed them to climb to seventh place.
Now the Champions League is the main problem for the Italians. They were incredibly close to reaching the round of 16 of the tournament directly, they just had to beat Dinamo Zagreb in the final round of the general stage, but in fact they unexpectedly lost - 1:2, taking 13th place in the standings. This was enough to get into the round of 32 finals, where Milan fell to Feyenoord. In Rotterdam, they could not achieve a positive result, suffering a defeat - 0:1, but ahead of the return home game.

For Feyenoord, the last two Eredivisie draws have worked out splendidly. In the 2023/24 season, they won only their second championship in the XXI century, and then, although they failed to defend the title, they finished in second place, which can also be considered a great success. The current championship is much worse for the representatives of Rotterdam, after the 23rd round they are located only on the fourth line in the standings and at best will be able to compete only for bronze medals.
It is important to note that recently the southerners were in the group of leaders of the national championship, but then they had a serious decline. In the last six rounds they got only one victory, and that was over Sparta, which is located in the relegation zone - 3:0. Two more draws were recorded, and in the three remaining battles, the Red and Whites suffered defeats, which now puts them 12 points behind the second place.
But in the Champions League, the Dutch are showing excellent results. They were far from being the main favorites of the tournament, but in eight rounds of the general stage they accumulated 13 points. This allowed them to finish in 19th place in the aggregate standings, ahead of, for example, Juventus and Man City. Moreover, in the first game of the round of 32 finals Feyenoord beat AC Milan 1:0 thanks to Igor Paixao's goal in the third minute of the match. Now the Red-Whites need to keep the advantage in Italy.
