The Spanish come into the fifth round of the Nations League as leaders. The Iberians have eight points, one more than their nearest pursuer, the Portuguese. Spain faces Portugal in the final round. And they must maintain their advantage over their rivals, albeit only marginally, before the decisive away game. Spain registered two wins in the 2022/23 Nations League: over the Czech Republic at home and away from Switzerland. In the first two rounds, they drew with Portugal 1:1 at home and the Czech Republic 2:2 away.

Switzerland

In the last round of the Nations League, the team got their first tournament win, a 1:0 home win over the Portuguese. That win did not lift the Swiss side from fourth place but relegated them to second place and lifted Spain to first. Before their success against the Portuguese, the Swiss team lost away to the Portuguese, the Czechs, and the Spanish at home. So, before the fifth round, the Swiss team is fourth in Group 2, one point behind the third, the Czechs. They lost both away matches, with a combined score of 1:6.

The Spanish side under Enrique can hardly be called a top team. However, there haven't been many low-scoring matches on Spanish pitches recently. Hopefully, we'll see at least a couple of goals on Saturday. Once again, Spain needs a win to keep their handicap and maybe even break away from their closest pursuer, Portugal, before a head-to-head encounter that could be decisive.
